Methyl methacrylate (chemical formula: C5H8O2) is an organic compound, also known as MMA, that is an important chemical raw material to manufacture transparent plastics polymethyl methacrylate, simple as PMMA (chemical formula: -[CH2C(CH3)(COOCH3)]n-), that is a kind of organic glass. Acrylic sheets are the products made of PMMA, that is generated by polymerization of MMA, under the presence of initiators. When manufacturing colorful acrylic sheets, there are paint colorings mixing with PMMA.
How HENAN BARUI TM machines produce MMA from scrap acrylic wastes?
- Insides the reactor, depolymerization reaction of scrap acrylic sheets break the molecular bond of PMMA, make PMMA (-[CH2C(CH3)(COOCH3)]n-) become MMA (C5H8O2), under the proper temperature and pressure. Meanwhile, there are some initiators, paint colorings and other impurities mixing with MMA. We call it crude MMA.
- To purify the crude MMA, that need separate different components, something lighter and something heavier. Meanwhile, some catalyst may be used according to the characteristics of initiators or paint colorings. To avoid the equipment wearing brings impurities to MMA, all parts of equipment contacting MMA are made of stainless steel.
- Finally, the produced purity of finished MMA can reach 92% – 99%. That can be used to produce PMMA sheet, with polymerization of MMA, under the proper condition, temperature, catalyst, initiators, paint colorings and so on.
- HENAN BARUI TM depolymerization reactor is semi-continuous rotation type. That can realize automatic discharging of carbon residues. And the service life of the reactor is for 5 years, without any repair.
